KANSAS CITY TO COMPETE IN AFL 2006
The Arena Football League has a new team.
Kansas City is
the latest expansion team for the 2006 season.
The team will be stocked with players formerly under contract to the
New Orleans VooDoo,
who suspended play for 2006 because of the effects of Hurricane
Katrina.
Kansas City will join the Utah Blaze as expansion teams for 2006.
AFL TO EXPAND IN 2006 ... OR NOT
The Utah Blaze will commence
play in the 2006 season coached by Dallas Cowboys legend and
AFL Hall of Fame Coach Danny White.
Players for the Utah Blaze were selected via a recent Expansion Draft.
The
Draft included two Claymore players Steve Scifres and
T.J. Bingham (both not selected by Utah).
Utah selected 20 players including a QB from the Nashville Kats
and according to a comment made by
Claymore Clint Stoerner ... he is in discussions to fill that void.
NFLE player Justin Skaggs has been drafted by the Blaze.
Utah will try and pick up some
Free Agents from
1st October.
Free Agents include ...
Mark Grieb, Scott Dreisbach and Michael Bishop
(who is currently playing CFL with the Argos).
However ...
the AFL have also announced that due to the
catastrophic effects of Hurricane Katrina
(including the damage sustained by the New Orleans Arena)
the New Orleans VooDoo
will not compete in 2006. The City of New Orleans will be top of the
list to host future ArenaBowls.
