BRONCOS CAN'T STOP SCOTS LOSING TO THE ENGLISH - 31st March 2007
On Saturday, Scotland lost 26-25 against Team England at St Margaret's HS, Airdrie.
Broncos Paul Jeffreys, Ryan Hunter, David Mooney Jnr, David Mooney Snr, Jimmy Thomson
and late addition Martin Galloway ... all helped Team Scotland run Team England close.
The majority of the 2007 GB Lions Squad for this years European Championships will most likely
be selected from this international game.

LAST CHANCE TO BID FOR HOSTING SFFA EVENTS - 31st March 2007
Clubs wishing to put in bids to host MVP Bowls (Youth - 24th Nov and Senior - 1st Dec) or
Finals Days (Youth - 29th Sept and Senior - 13th Oct) should forward their proposals to
host these events to the committee by the end of this month.

SCOTLANDS FLAG SENIORS PLAY ENGLAND - 31st March 2007
On Saturday, Scotland will host England in St Margaret's High School Sports Comprehensive Airdrie
@ 12 noon (enter via Airdrie Sports Centre).
Ireland may also make the trip ?
Broncos Paul Jeffreys, Ryan Hunter, David Mooney Jnr, David Mooney Snr and
Jimmy Thomson are all in the Team Scotland Squad.
The 2007 GB Lions Squad for this years European Championships will be selected from both the
24th March practice and the international games.
Training dates will be arranged thereafter.

SUMMARY OF THE COMMITTEE MEETING - 26th March 2007
The second Broncos Committee Meeting of the year was held on Monday at the Halbert Residence.
Items discussed were the Scroll Awards, the importance of registration and running a tight ship.
Detailed Squad lists to be produced for emergency purposes.
Merchandising is progressing well and we hopefully should see new caps, hats, shorts and socks
before our first SFFA League game.
Five members of the Bronco Seniors Squad have been picked for Team Scotland to play England in
Airdrie this coming weekend (31st March).
Communication on match days and the days leading up to them is important for parents and coaches ...
therefore mobile phones for each Squad as a first point of contact was discussed and approved in principle.
Next meeting - 9th May 2007 @ Thomson Residence (7:30pm).

DAY OUT FOR SENIOR SFFA FLAG PLAYERS - 24th March 2007
On Saturday, Team Scotland hosted an open practice at a St. Margaret's Sports Complex, Airdrie
from 1pm until 5pm. A £5 subscription was payable on arrival.
Stu and Coach Russell will use both this practice and the international games to make
final selections for the 2007 Squad.
A return match with England and a trip over to Ireland may be on the cards in November.
All current Team Scotland Squad Members were asked to check the Team Scotland Forum and
indicate their availability for both dates.

SCOTLAND GET READY FOR QUALIFYING ROUND OF FLAG EVENT - 24th March 2007
Bruce Foster has just received word from the NFL office about this years 5-on-5
World Flag Championships. All teams must be school-based teams, and will have a
maximum of six players plus one chaperone (co-ed teams will be allowed to bring
seven players plus one male and one female chaperone).
All players must be born between 1st September 1992 and 31st December 1995.
If a Broncos Affiliated Team has a team that matches this criteria, then let Bruce know urgently.
Two separate qualifying rounds will be held on 5th May in Inverness and Dundee.
Both these winners will face each other at the Scottish Schools Final on the 12th May in Perth ?
Interested schools should advise Bruce before 24th March (deadline 31st March),
so that he can put together a firm proposal to the NFL representatives in London.

EFAF ... CHOP OFF THE HEADS - 24th March 2007
On Saturday, BAFA hosted the EFAF General Assembly for 2007 at the Tower of London.
The event, that sees all members of EFAF attend, discussed the development of American football
from a European perspective.

BRONCOS AT ANNUAL SPORTS PRESENTATIONS - 21st March 2007
Commonwealth gold medallist, Steve Frew, was guest of honour at the Annual Scroll Awards and
Sports Personality of the Year presentations held in Falkirk Town Hall on Wednesday.
The Broncos were nominated thirteen times in various categories but unfortunately never
came away with any of the top prizes.
Well done to all those who received a Scroll Award !

SDS ANNOUNCE 2007 DIARY DATES
SDS Head Coach Adam Donaldson has invited all SFFA Coaches to send their best players at
Cadet, Junior and Youth levels to the open trials being held at Forthbank on the 21st April.
Coaches should send a list of player names, dates of birth and BAFA number to Coach Donaldson
before the Stirling trials.
21st Apr ... Trials @ Forthbank Stirling - 10am until 1pm
26th May ... Practice @ Stirling University - 11am until 4pm
25th Aug ... Practice @ Stirling University - 12:30pm until 5pm

SFFA CALL EGM ALONG WITH SGA TO DISCUSS BAFA PROPOSALS - 13th March 2007
Rather than having two separate EGMs discussing the same issues that effect the same clubs ...
both the SFFA and the SGA will co-chair one EGM (14th April).
This will allow all SFFA Member Clubs the opportunity to attend along with the SGA membership.
It is hoped that BAFA Chairman Gary Marshall will be in attendance along with Ken Walters,
BAFA WSP Manager (Whole Sports Plan), to answer all questions that their proposals have raised.

SFFA COACHES CAN NOW REGISTER WITH BAFCA - 13th March 2007
It is possible for SFFA Coaches to register with the British American Football Coaches Association
via the Central Registration System.
If registering as a Coach in any capacity it is a mandatory requirement to be a member of BAFCA.
This information now supersedes what was discussed and agreed at the last SFFA AGM.

MUSIC TO OUR EARS - 13th March 2007
Big in Falkirk returns to Falkirk where a line-up of Star Acts will perform on stage in early May.
Human League and Heaven 17 have already been announced.
The music listings will continue to grow so keep watching this space !

IMPORTANT ... SGA CALL AN EGM
An SGA EGM has been called for Saturday 14th April 2007.
A venue and time has still to be confirmed.
The BAFA board have asked the SGA to resign from the board to make way for a
British Senior Flag Football Association.
If BAFA is successful there will be many constitutional changes to BAFA, SGA and SFFA.
This is the most important SGA meeting for many years.
Only one representative per member club of the SGA / SFFA will be permitted to attend.
Please let Stu McKay (SGA Chairman) know if your club wishes to be represented and who shall attend.
Only one vote per team will be accepted.

LAST DAY TO CONSIDER HOSTING A 2007 BAFA / NFL JPD CAMP - 9th March 2007
The Junior Player Development (JPD) program allows young persons with no previous playing experience
the opportunity to play American Football.
Participants take part in a four-day camp where they tryout at every position.
BAFA and the NFL are undertaking the planning and organising of the 2007 JPD program.
Clubs wishing to host a JPD camp should already have contacted Simon Newnham for an application form.
Application forms should have already been completed and returned by today for consideration.
To Host a Camp ... Clubs had to meet certain criteria and standards as set out by the BAFA.

FIRST AID COURSE CANCELLED - 4th March 2007
An Appointed Person First Aid Course had been arranged for this Sunday in the Derby Inn
in Holytown, Lanarkshire but due to lack of interest it has been cancelled until later in the year.
Cost of this course was £25 to all SFFA members (on a first come first served basis).
A £10 deposit was required prior to secure booking.

SCOTS TRAVEL TO GB CAMP - 3rd / 4th March 2007
Following on from the GB workouts in Stirling ... players in Scotland and the North of England who
were selected for GB Camp will travel to Crystal Palace NSC this weekend to prove their worth.

IMPORTANT ... SFFA RULES DAY CANCELLED - 3rd March 2007
An SFFA Rules Day had been arranged for this Saturday @ St Margaret's High School, Airdrie.
The event was due to begin at 11am and end around 2pm.
The success of the day and plans involved, were dependant on larger numbers which didn't happen.
Stu will try and arrange another date later in the year.

UPDATED SFFA HANDBOOK ISSUED
The SFFA Committee has issued an updated Handbook for all its members use.
The handbook is an extensive collection of documents and forms that all members should make use of.
An interactive CD version of the Handbook was issued to all attending member clubs at the AGM.
Clubs not attending the AGM who still wish to participate in the 2007 should download the Handbook.

SUITS YOU SIR ... DRESS TO IMPRESS !
Charlie Ewing (Broncos Merchandise Officer) has been looking at purchasing tracksuits for the club.
We are looking at getting the same tracksuit as the Scotland ones but with different colours ...
ie black (instead of blue) and orange (instead of white).
The club logo would be embroidered into them with the player name and number or position.
Not sure of the price yet.
It won't be happening for a few weeks but it would be good to know how many members are interested.
If interested please speak to Charlie.

WHO'S THE NEW DADDY ! - 30th March 2007
Alouettes tackle Luke Fritz became a father yesterday as wife Erin gave birth to a baby girl, Eden Marie.
Both mother and daughter are doing well.
Luke played for the Scottish Claymores in 2002 and now plays in the CFL with Montreal.
Congratulations to the Fritz Family from the Broncos Organisation.

BYAFA FINAL AT BRITBOWL XXI IN SEPTEMBER
BritBowl XXI will be played at Don Valley Stadium, Sheffield on 22nd / 23rd September.
In addition to the BAFL Premier, BAFL 1 and 2 National Championship Finals, BritBowl XXI
will also feature the BYAFA National Youth Final.
In a change to the familiar format, to accommodate the BYAFA Youth Final, BritBowl XXI
will commence on Saturday afternoon with the BAFL 2 National Championship game followed by the
'winner takes all' BAFL 1 Final under floodlights.
On the Sunday, the BYAFA will kick-off at noon, followed by the BAFL Premier BritBowl Final at 4pm.

MONTREAL READY TO CHALLENGE THE CFL IN 2007
The 2007 CFL Season Schedule is out, and the Montreal team is ready to kick off the year by
hosting the Saskatchewan Roughriders on 29th June at Percival Molson Stadium.
The season wraps up on 2nd Nov as the Als travel to Winnipeg to face the Blue Bombers.

95TH GREY CUP TO BE PLAYED IN TORONTO
The 2007 Grey Cup in Toronto will begin with a four day festival encompassing over 50 events at
great venues complete with street closures, entertainment and activities.
The Over The Top In Toronto festival will be one of the most memorable Grey Cup festivals of all time.
The 95th Grey Cup will be played on Sunday 25th November 2007 at Rogers Centre.
Additionally, the prestigious Vanier Cup will be held on Friday 23rd November 2007 at Rogers Centre.
Tickets went on sale 1st March.

MONTREAL SIGN SON OF NFL LEGEND
Last month, Jarrett Payton, son of NFL legend Walter Payton, signed with the Alouettes and
will be at camp with the Montreal franchise this spring.

ESPN TO ACQUIRE NASN
ESPN has announced it has agreed to acquire NASN, the only European channel dedicated to
North American sports, from Setanta Sport Holdings Ltd and Benchmark Capital Europe.

2008 NFL PRO BOWL PARTY IN NEWQUAY ?
The all-star game could be moved outside of Hawaii, perhaps as early as 2008.
Among the alternate sites under consideration are China, Japan, Australia and Europe.
Several league owners told ESPN.com that, if the game is moved ... London is the most likely site.
