SOME YOU WIN, SOME YOU LOSE - 28th June 2008
A workman like performance from the Lanarkshire Steelers saw them
overtake the Bronco Seniors in
the BAFL as the Broncos lost by only one single point ... a foiled
extra point with seconds remaining.
Good blitzing from the Steelers in the first half and a few
crucial dropped passes allowed the visitors
a memorable win over their friendly rivals.
For the Broncos it is a time to re-group and hope a bigger squad on
a Monday Night return leg will
make up for the slight disappointment today.
Things now look tough for the Broncos to qualify for the
National Finals but never rule out the
Broncos when their backs are against the wall.
RETURN OF THE PAT - 28th June 2008
I can exclusively reveal that Iain Patfield
is planning to come out of retirement to help bolster
the 2008 Bronco Senior Squad.
With holidays and work commitments affecting the availability of
certain current squad members
it is one bit of good news for Coach Thomson who sent a
desperate flee to former players to rally
round the Club and help the Broncos avoid forfeiting any of their
games this season.
Let's hope that Iain remains in good health to help the cause.
(star jumps do count !)
BRONCO SENIORS WELCOME STEELERS TO ... DOUGLAS PARK ?
- 28th June 2008
The Broncos plan to play their 4th
BAFL Senior Flag game of the season
against visitors ... the Lanarkshire Steelers.
This home fixture will be played at
Douglas Park, Bo'ness instead of
Inchyra Park.

WILDCATS AND BRONCOS ARE FLAMEBOWL III CHAMPIONS -
21st June 2008
Four Junior and four Youth teams turned up at Grangemouth Stadium to
take part
in the BAFL tournament organised by the Broncos.
The twelve games produced lots of very good football and five
valuable points for the
Highland Wildcats A (Juniors) and the
Grangemouth Broncos (Youths).
Broncos Fraser Thomson (Juniors) and Callum Woods (Youths) both got
the tournament MVPs.
For more information visit the
FlameBowl III website.
GET READY TO ENJOY THE 2008 FLAMEBOWL - 21st June 2008
The Stadium has been booked and
Subway, Grangemouth have agreed to be one of
our main sponsors.
Once clarification from the BAFL Chairman has been received,
the proposed schedule will be released.
BBC Weather indicates that we should expect sunny spells and light
showers.
For all the latest news visit the
FlameBowl III website.
INVITATIONS SENT OUT FOR FLAMEBOWL III - 21st June 2008
The Grangemouth Broncos would like to send out an open invitation to
all Junior and Youth
BAFL Clubs who intent to participate in
Flame Bowl 2008 at Grangemouth Stadium
this Saturday.

SECOND CHANCE TO HEAR BAFL CHAIRMAN - 21st June 2008
As previously notified to team managers a meeting took place
last Saturday in
Sheffield.
This meeting affected all six disciplines
(Adult/Youth/Junior/Cadet Flag and Youth/Junior Contact)
within the BAFL not currently (legally) included under the company,
Gridiron Football League Ltd
trading as British American Football League.
For those unable to attend last week, a repeat meeting is scheduled
for this Saturday at the
same location ... Don Valley Stadium, Sheffield.
The purpose is to give the opportunity to explain what is happening
right now with regards the
changing of the constitution of the company to give all seven
disciplines the right to have a say in
the future of the league. The future plans for the league will also be
outlined and the opportunity
for teams to influence these plans will be provided.
The meetings will start at 11am and conclude by 3pm at the latest.
For more information visit the
BAFL Forum.
BRONCO SENIORS LOSE FIRST BAFL GAME OF THE SEASON
- 14th June 2008
On Saturday, the Bronco Seniors hosted the
Kirkcaldy Bulls at Inchyra Park.
Although it is not a shock that the Broncos lost it was disappointing
to see them lose their focus
midway through the first-half.
After going 12-0 down, the Broncos pulled back a TD only to then
uncharacteristically hit the
self-destruct button after a sack in the End Zone put the Bulls
14-6 and back in possession of the ball.
The Broncos continued to argue and question every decision made
... two TDs later they were justifiably
losing 34-6 to the bemused Bulls at the half.
However, after a team talk the real Broncos stepped out onto the
Inchyra turf for a second-half
that saw them work more like a team that was having fun and as a
result only gave up one further
point differential (19-18). Full-Time ... 53-24 Bulls.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF COMMITTEE MEETING - 11th June 2008
Updating members details and Registrations are still on-going.
No further forward in Beverley Isdale becoming an approved
Welfare Officer through BAFA.
The club still wants players / coaches to use the Changing
Rooms as a drop off point.
Posters are being designed to recruit more players through eg
Schools and Sports Centres.
Quiz Night raised an incredible £367.50 profit which
included putting the Concorde Musuem prize as
part of the Raffle. The Club still has a Golf Prize (4 people)
to auction off ... we have a starting bid of £50.
Although we were unable to get FlameBowl sponsorship from Ineos we
have managed to get a donation
from Subway of 150 bottles of Powerade and possibly a bundle of
buy-one-get-one free vouchers.
Coaches of all the age bands indicated that results so far have been
reasonably good and a chance to
compete at National Finals Day
in September (Doncaster) is still a possibility for all squads.
It was agreed that since we have only registered Junior and Youth
Squads we will only renew the
Inchyra Park Lease for those two teams.
FlameBowl III preparations are going
well and certain duties have been allocated. Nine teams will
compete for a trophy at Junior and Youth level.
Also medals for winners.

BRONCO YOUTHS WIN THEIR FIRST EVER BAFL EVENT
- 7th June 2008
On Saturday, the
Glasgow Tigers hosted a three team Youth BAFL Event
at Cambuslang Rugby Club.
Having missed the first tournament of the season three weeks earlier
due to lack of players available it
was pleasing to see the five man
Broncos Squad play so well against the
Glasgow Hornets and Tigers.
The Broncos won both games to come
out on top.
BRONCO JUNIORS STILL STRUGGLE TO WIN A FRIENDLY MATCH
- 7th June 2008
On Saturday, the Bronco Juniors travelled to East End Healthy
Living Centre to face the
Glasgow Hornets in a friendly match.
I am sure the young Broncos side will be disappointed after
such a positive display three weeks ago.
The shock has now brought them
back down to earth again and hopefully they will all
realise that they are still a very young inexperienced side and
can only learn from their loss.
All credit to the Hornets for a fiesty win.
TIGERS TO HOST A BAFL YOUTH FLAG EVENT ONLY
- 7th June 2008
Glasgow Tigers are
scheduled to host a Youth BAFL Event this Saturday.
Bronco Youths will be attending their first tournament of the year at
Cambuslang Rugby Club.
Meanwhile the Bronco Juniors have been invited to play a
friendly against the Glasgow Hornets
at East End Healthy Living Centre.
All players should meet at McDonald's Grangemouth for 9am ...
leaving @ 9:15am prompt.
Teams should arrive between 10:30am and 11am for registration.
The Tigers plan to have the first games kicking off at 11am.
Each team was asked to confirm participation by calling Jim McInally
on mobile tel no 07976634267.
IMPORTANT SCOTTISH DATES FOR 2008 BAFL UNDER 18 EVENTS

Juniors and Youths only.
7th Jun ... Glasgow Tigers
21st Jun ... Grangemouth Broncos
2nd Aug ... Highland Wildcats

More dates still to be announced.
Proposed Tournament Format

3rd Place Team (1 point) ...
and all teams participating receive an additional 1 point.
So the maximum points available will be 5.

tournament results for a team.
For example ... if a team enters 5 tournaments the four best results
for that team will be used to
determine their overall points score.
