On a crisp, dry Autumn Day the Kirkcaldy Bulls travelled
to Inchyra Park to take on the mighty Broncos.
The Broncos knew that they had to win ... and win big ... if they had
any chance of recovering lost ground on the Bulls.
Broncos started with the ball ... but found no way through the tight
Bulls-D.
The Broncos-D then took to the field ... only to step off again seconds
later as the Kirkcaldy side threw one of their long wind assisted balls
to a sweatless Bull in the End-Zone ... 6-0 Bulls.
Things did improve ... with the Broncos coming within just 2 points ...
18-20 ... near the end of the first-half. The Broncos could even have
tied the game if they had decided to go for a 2pt Conversion ...
instead an extra point was chosen ... and ... missed.
To rub salt in the wounds ... the Bulls then quickly restored their
9-point lead.
Half-Time ... 27-18 to the Bulls.
The Second-Half was always going to be more difficult as Kirkcaldy
started with the ball.
With the wind now in the Bulls faces they started to play things
slightly shorter but there was always the danger of one going long ...
highlight of which ... was a pick by John Myles in his own End-Zone.
The Broncos continued to adjust things throughout the game as
they tried to claw-back the points.
The Broncos-D were now starting to work more as a unit and were
managing to stay on the field longer ... although time then started to
work against any suggestion that a fight-back was on the cards.
The Broncos did score late on but this was never going to be enough as
the Bulls managed the clock well.
The Seniors played better than previous games against the Bulls but
Kirkcaldy were always the more focused team on the day and
looked every bit a team that is on a mission to become SFFA Champions.
Full-Time ... 48-30 to the Bulls.
Scorers were ...
Jimmy Thomson 3TDs ... and ... James Kerr 2TDs.
Awaiting Match MVP.
