This was the Seniors first league game of the season, but they took the field fired up and ready to play.
The Hornets were the team looking nervous, especially when David Mooney Jr intercepted the Hornets QB
on the very first play and ran it in for a touchdown.
This was never going to be an easy contest though, and the Hornets hit back on their next drive.
The tone of the game was set.
The first-half was a parade of touchdowns with both teams scoring almost at will.
The Broncos managed to keep control of the game for most of the first-half in terms of the scoreline
but the Hornets were never far behind and pressed them hard.
With the scoreline at 42-30 to the Broncos at half-time, this looked like being a record breaking scoreline
by the end of the match.
In the second-half, both teams became more conservative, trying to find a way to win the game
while conceding as little as possible. The Broncos, although they lost their way a little in the second-half stuck to the task and won the game 62-49.
Coach Thomson said 'It's good to start our league campaign with a win. It's the same old story though !
We can score almost every time we have the ball. We just can't stop the opposition scoring at the same time.
With 111 points in the game that has to be a SFFA record for a Senior league match. We were just lucky
to be on the winning side'.
