Herald Report:

The Grangemouth Broncos Senior Squad have finally beaten the Kirkcaldy Bulls.
Last Saturday the previously undefeated (ever !) Kirkcaldy Bulls arrived at Inchyra Park
hoping to extend their unbeaten record.
The Broncos were determined that that they were going to be the first team to beat them.
Last weeks tournament win had boosted the Broncos players confidence and had allowed them to
practice a few plays which they hoped would disrupt the Bulls Offense.
The Bulls won the toss and had the ball first, but the Broncos held them out of the Endzone.
The Broncos first drive was much more successful with Tommy Farrer connecting with Ryan Hunter
for a 30 yard Touchdown. This was Ryan's first competitive TD for the Broncos.
Dave Mooney followed that with the 1 point Conversion.
Defenses then took over.
The Bulls forced three turnover on downs, but the Broncos not only forced turnovers but
Ryan Hunter and John Myles intercepted the Bulls Quarterback, Myles in the Endzone
to save the Touchdown on the stroke of half-time.
7-0 Broncos.
After the break, the game continued as before, with the Bulls holding the Broncos, then John Myles
picking off his second Endzone interception.
From there the Broncos moved the ball up the park and finished the drive with a short pass from
Tommy Farrer to Jimmy Thomson who then dodged over the line for a TD.
Ryan Hunter caught the extra point to give the Broncos a 14-0 lead.
The Bulls were not beaten however and the Arnold brothers combination saw Neil passing to Paul
to put the Bulls on the board. The extra point Conversion was missed (14-6).
Defenses took over again and tight marking from Mark Simpson and Iain Patfield
allowed Jimmy Thomson two sacks on the Bulls Quarterback, the second crucially,
on a fourth and goal from the 10 yard line.
However, the Bulls were not to be denied and in the last minute of the game Neil Arnold
found Stevie Bramwell in the Endzone to make the score 14-12.
The Bulls opted to try for a two point conversion, but the Broncos blitz forced the QB onto his wrong
side and the pass went out of bounds.
It was left to the Broncos to run the clock out for the win.
Ryan Hunter was voted Broncos MVP.
Coach Jimmy Thomson said, 'We have come so close to beating the Bulls on so many occasions.
Today was a tremendous result for our Squad. The Broncos worked hard on defense and limited the
current SFFA Champions to only two TDs. Hopefully we can keep this up throughout the season.'
This coming Saturday is a practice weekend for the Seniors,
with the Stirling Clansmen scheduled for the 25th of June (still to be confirmed).
The Cadet, Junior and Youth Squads will not be practising this coming weekend
as many of them will involved with Scotland Training @ Forthbank, Stirling.

Achievements:

Ryan Hunter scores his first competitive TD for the Broncos.
Broncos managed three vital interceptions ... John Myles (2) and Ryan Hunter (1).
Although TDs win games ... full credit to the Broncos for working as a good Defensive Unit
and limiting the current SFFA Champions to so few points.
Looks like it is true ... a great Defense can win Championships.
Two SFFA wins out of two ... unbeaten at home and away so far this Season.
To wait as long as the Broncos have for a win against a formidable Bulls side ...
is the biggest and greatest achievement to date.
Well Done Guys !

MVP:

Ryan Hunter
