Full Time ... 50-25 to the Rockets (H/T 28-7 Rockets)
Josh Keir 2 TDs, Scott Halbert 1 TD and a 1pt Conversion and Kevin Simpson 1 TD.
The Grangemouth Broncos played host last weekend to the
Inverness Rockets in their first meeting this
year. The Rockets and the Broncos are old rivals and over the last few
years both clubs have established themselves as the top two in the
SFFA Northern Conference.
This year is no difference and both clubs were keen to get the top
slot in all age bands.
The Juniors (U15) were the second onto the field and the Rockets were
looking for revenge.
This was a complete reversal of the first game and it was the Rockets
who dominated the first-half,
scoring 4 touchdowns, whilst the Broncos could only manage one.
Half-time allowed the Broncos to catch their breath and the
second-half saw a return of the offensive form
that had been missing in the first-half.
The Broncos scored 3 touchdowns in the second-half, but each of these
was matched by a touchdown from
the Rockets and the game ended 50-25 in favour of the Rockets.
Josh Keir (Broncos) and Angus McIntosh (Rockets) were named MVP's.
Broncos Head Coach Charlie Ewing said afterwards 'Great football from
both clubs throughout the day.
It is what the sport is all about. Inverness are a fine club and it
is always a pleasure to play them.
Good technical skills from both clubs made for some very entertaining
football and we need to prepare well
for the return match in Inverness in 2 weeks time'.
The results allow both the Cadets and the Youth Squads to maintain
their positons at the top of their
leagues whilst the Juniors are trailing Inverness at this stage of the
season.
First game in the 'orange jersey' for Blair Gallacher.
Three Interceptions for the Defense ... Kevin Simpson, Josh Keir and
Blair Gallacher.
All six players have to be commended for not giving up and working
very hard to find space and
moving the ball forward under tight marking conditions.
