UPDATED SFFA HANDBOOK ISSUED - 25th February 2007
The SFFA Committee has issued an updated
Handbook
for all its members use.
The handbook is an extensive collection of documents and forms that
all members should make use of.
An interactive CD version of the Handbook was issued to all attending
member clubs at the AGM.
Clubs not attending the AGM who still wish to participate in the 2007
should
download the Handbook.

Clubs wishing to put in bids to host MVP Bowls
(Youth - 24th Nov and Senior - 1st Dec) or
Finals Days (Youth - 29th Sept and Senior - 13th Oct) should
forward their proposals to
host these events to the committee by the end of
March 2007.

SCOTS LOSE TO THE ENGLISH - 24th February 2007
A great afternoon of football this afternoon at Meadowbank,
Edinburgh.
It was a closely fought game with England leaving victorious by
20 points to 8.
A crowd around 200 created a great atmosphere at the
BAFA Home Nations Youth Trophy and it
was an excellent launch for the home of the
Edinburgh Wolves
for the
2007 BAFL Season.
AULD ENEMY KITTED CLASH BACK ON !
- 24th February 2007
On Saturday the Annual Youth Scotland vs England International is
finally going to take place.
This fixture was originally postponed late last year due to safety
issues.
This is the best chance many of these players have of representing
their country on the international stage
in a game which is also a trial for the GB Squads.
The game taking place at Edinburgh's Meadowbank Stadium.
Scotland is now under the leadership of new Head Coach, Alan Wilson
with Broncos player,
Ryan Hunter the new Defensive Backs Assistant.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS (TV SERIES) - 21st February 2007
NBC are filming a pilot of a
Friday Night Lights TV Series which will be based on the film.
The Series will be shown every Wednesday

@ 8pm.

Coach Jonathan Ewing is currently in hospital.
Jonathan won't be at training this weekend (24th Feb) and possibly
next weekend (3rd March).

SCOTS TAKE IN FINAL TRAINING BEFORE FACING THE ENGLISH -

This Sunday Team Scotland gather again at Cambuslang for their final
training session before they face
the Auld Enemy on Saturday 24th February.
The Scots will then spend the night before the game at a youth hostel
in Edinburgh.

Following recent Senior Kitted Trials in Stirling, Ryan Hunter
was one of nine Scottish BAFL players
called up for GB Camp.

Adam Donaldson is the new SDS Head Coach.
Coaching ... Robbie McKenzie will become the new Cadet Coach for
2007.
Officials ... Jimmy Thomson re-appointed as the Club Manager and
Chairman ...
joining Alison Woods (Secretary) and
Doreen Halbert (Treasurer).
BAFA ... some of our players may be interested in
Summer Camps.
Re-Registering ... existing players must register by
30th April 2007.
Merchandising ... looking to purchase baseball caps and hats before
larger priced items.
Club Fees ... have been revamped - 3 payments
instead of 4. Will be Club News Letter distributed shortly.
Seniors ... finished in 2nd place at the Cobras Super Bowl I Event.

SCOTLAND TRAIN FOR ENGLAND MATCH - 11th February 2007
This Sunday over forty players, representing all youth kitted teams in
Scotland, will gather at Glasgow's
Cambuslang Rugby Club for their first of two training sessions before
they face England later this month.
GB TRIALS AT STIRLING - 10th February 2007
Potential GB players in Scotland and the North of England have the
opportunity to workout and
demonstrate their abilities on Saturday at
Forthbank Stadium, Springkerse, Stirling.
Registration will be at 11.30am and the workout should be finished
around 4pm.
Players should bring full equipment and astro turf shoes.
Offensive players should wear white jerseys
Defensive players should wear black or dark jerseys.
Players at these workouts will be told immediately, wherever possible,
if they are invited to
GB Camp (Crystal Palace NSC - 3rd / 4th March).

2007 BAFA / NFL JPD CAMPS - 8th February 2007
The Junior Player Development (JPD) program allows young persons with
no previous playing experience
the opportunity to play American Football.
Participants take part in a four-day camp where they tryout at
every position.
BAFA and the NFL are undertaking the
planning and organising of the 2007 JPD program.
Clubs wishing to host a JPD camp should contact
Simon Newnham
for an application form.
Application forms should be completed and returned by
Friday 9th March for consideration.
To Host a Camp ... Clubs will have to meet
certain criteria and standards as set out by the BAFA.
BRONCOS INCLUDED IN SCOTS KITTED SQUAD TO FACE ENGLAND

Scotland Youth have announced the
Final Squad
that will take to the field at Meadowbank, Edinburgh
on Saturday the 24th February.

The
West Coast Trojans will again be holding their SB party in their
2006 official sponsors VIP room.

BRONCOS FINISH RUNNERS-UP IN SUPER BOWL TOURNAMENT

On Saturday, the Carluke Cobras held their
2007 Super Bowl Event.
The Broncos played four games ... losing only one to
the eventual winners ... the
Kirkcaldy Bulls.
SENIORS PLAN TO CELEBRATE SUPER BOWL EVENT
- 3rd February 2007
The Carluke Cobras are holding a Super Bowl tournament this
Saturday.
All current SFFA adult teams are invited.
The Broncos have indicated that they will take part.
The pitch has been booked and will take place @
Lanark Race Course (use
postcode ML11 9TA).
When you get in to Lanark your going past the Loch Inn and turning
left at the sign for
South Lanarkshire Council Lanark Race course. Drive to the back of
the ash car park
and go along the small road to the right.
Registration is scheduled for 10:30am
Event starts at 11am and will finish around 3:30pm.
Entry Fee ... £10 per team.
Pitch playing surface ... synthetic.
The structure of the tournament has not yet been decided and is
directly related to the
amount of teams taking part.

FIRST AID COURSE SCHEDULED FOR MARCH NOW CANCELLED
An Appointed Person First Aid Course had been arranged for
Sunday 4th March in the
Derby Inn in Holytown, Lanarkshire.
Cost of this course would have been £25 to all SFFA members
(on a first come first served basis).
A £10 deposit was required prior to secure booking.

BRONCOS AT ANNUAL SPORTS PRESENTATIONS IN MARCH
Commonwealth gold medallist, Steve Frew, will be guest of honour at
the Annual Scroll Awards and
Sports Personality of the Year presentations to be held in Falkirk
Town Hall on Wednesday, 21st March.
Nominations for the awards have now closed and a record number of
application forms have been received.
The Broncos have been nominated in various categories.

NFL EUROPA 2007 ... PLAYERS PREPARE FOR EUROPE

The
countdown to the 15th NFL Europa League season has begun with the
assignment and drafting
of NFL allocated players.
Over 100 young prospects were assigned by the NFLEL office with the 6
NFLE Head Coaches adding a
further group of young NFL QBs.
The assignment of kickers and punters happens during
Tampa Bay Training Camp (March).
In total 150 players will be allocated by the NFL.

MCCUSKER JOINS GB LIONS STAFF - 9th February 2007
Stephen McCusker has boosted the Lions Coaching Staff by taking
up the position
of Offensive Line Coach.
Coach McCusker will be tasked with putting together an offensive line
to take on the
might of Europe in the 2009 European Championships.
BYAFA FINAL AT BRITBOWL XXI - 9th February 2007
BritBowl XXI will be played at
Don Valley Stadium, Sheffield
on 22nd / 23rd September.
In addition to the BAFL Premier, BAFL 1 and 2 National
Championship Finals, BritBowl XXI
will also feature the BYAFA National Youth Final.
In a change to the familiar format, to accommodate the BYAFA Youth
Final, BritBowl XXI
will commence on Saturday afternoon with the BAFL 2 National
Championship game followed by the
'winner takes all' BAFL 1 Final under floodlights.
On the Sunday, the BYAFA will kick-off at noon, followed by the BAFL
Premier BritBowl Final at 4pm.

in Super Bowl XLI held in
Miami, Florida.
Peyton Manning got MVP.

NFL EUROPA STARTS TO GATHER MOMENTUM
A host of home-grown international players from around the world will
look to put their NFL experience
to good use when they gather for NFL Europa National Camp
(Tampa, Florida) in March.
After working out in Florida for one week, 48 of the leading
international players will be assigned to
the rosters of the six NFL Europa teams.
Players will then continue working with their respective teams until
the 2007 campaign kicks-off on
Saturday 14th April.
