GOOD PROGRESS MADE AT CLAYMORES SCHOOL BOWL -
1st May 2004
The Crocs represented Clackmannan Primary in the 1st Scottish Claymores
Bowl for School Teams only.
The Event used to be open to all Club and School Teams through out
Scotland but now is only open to School teams with players born in
1990,1991 and 1992.
The Crocodiles are all primary 7 and were the only Primary School to
be invited.
The invite came when Jim Burns the Claymores Grassroots Development
Officer visited the school to see what they had to offer and was
impressed with the standard of the players at Clackmannan.
The team consisted of ... Scott McKenzie (QB), James Muir, Arran
MacMillan and Jack Fowler (WRs), Graeme Tainsh (C), Gary Thomson and
Ross Renwick (RBs).
Some of these players had never played against another team before and
all the other teams at the Bowl were Secondary School Teams so things
were looking tough.
Game 1 ... Culloden High Scool (Inverness) who had won a Qualifying
Event up North.
Surprisingly the Crocs played very well and kept it close all the way
but ended up losing 28-25.
Game 2 ... St Mungos (Glasgow) and the guys showed their potential
winning 53-8.
Game 3 ... St Ambrose (Coatbridge) with the Crocs again showing
impressive form winning 53-12.
Game 4 ... Trinity High (Rutherglen) the eventual winners.
Both teams traded score for score with Trinity scoring as time expired
to win 34-25.
This was tough to take as the team had played well against the
much taller High School side.
Game 5 ... St Margarets High (Airdrie) who were tied in first place at
the time and playing well.
Again the game started with both teams trading scores but then they
stopped the Crocs scoring once then pulled away to win 35-19.
The Crocodiles proved they could score against all the teams and were
the highest overall points scorers, finishing up 2 wins and 3 losses
... no disgrace for the youngest players there.
The players thoroughly enjoyed the day where the main aim was for
teams to participate and have FUN.
The Crocs enjoyed the fact a couple of Scottish Caymores players turned
up for the last couple of games and the Prize-Giving ... where they all
got photos and signed shirts.
The Crocs are now already setting their sights on competing in
Next Years Event.

CROCS RUN BRONCOS CLOSE IN FRIENDLY - 23rd November 2002

The game ended 28-25 in favour of the Broncos.
CROCS PLAY FIRST TOURNAMENT - 12th October 2002
Today saw the Clackmannan Crocodiles Flag Football Team play their first competitive tournament when they travelled to Forthbank, Stirling to take part in the Kick off Classic Flag-toberfest Tournament hosted by the Scottish Claymores.
The Cadets from Clackmannan Primary School were to play 4 matches in a round robin league format.
First up were the Alexandra Raptors who scored first but the Crocs hit back through Gregor Thomsons TD catch. Raptors scored again but Graeme Tainshs TD catch pulled it level with only a minute left. The Raptors though were not to be held up and scored at the end making it 20-12.
Second game saw the experienced side Dundee Storm score once in each half to take the win 12-0. The highlight of this game being a sack on the Dundee QB by Scott McKenzie and tight defense by Lesley Morin but the team played well to keep the score tight.
Game 3 and they turned things around against Glasgow Tigers in a very tight match Arran MacMillan scored a TD and took an extra point with William Fyfe and Scott Halbert getting a TD each. Graeme Tainsh also hit the extra point. Leaving it very late Arran MacMillan caught a TD pass as time ran out to win the Crocodiles their first ever match.
Game 4 and it was to be mixed loyalties for Crocs Coach Robbie McKenzie as his daughter Chloe was playing for the much fancied Grangemouth Broncos and his son playing for the Crocs. The Broncos were always in control with Clackmannan lad, Martyn Paterson scoring for the Broncos. Highlights of this game was an interception caught and returned for a TD by Scott Halbert and some good defense from Lorna Haddow. Broncos won the game 21-6.
Several good things came out of the Crocodiles first tournament -
1. All the kids taking part enjoyed every minute of the day even though the rain never stopped for the whole six hours it took to finish.
2.The team won their first game.
3. Delight for Coach McKenzie with his first win as Coach and for his daughter Chloes team (Broncos) winning the tournament - which was made even more special for them both as Chloe got her first ever TD in the Final to give Broncos victory.
Well done to everyone at the Club for a brave performance all round.
AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY EVENT- Over 50 kids took part at Tulligarth Sports Complex. Most kids took advantage of the offer of trying flag football for the first time and everyone enjoyed the experience. All the children were given Flag Football leaflets and flyers to come along to play with The Broncos on a Saturday. Interest was shown by quite a few on this offer so we can only hope the coaching experience from Robbie McKenzie will attract some new faces to our great team.
