WEATHER SPOILS BRONCOS TRIP TO WOODHAM TOURNAMENT - 29th April 2012
The Bronco Seniors were invited to a Flag Event this Sunday from 7am until 10pm
hosted by the Woodham Warriors.
Due to flooded pitches Woodham have advised that the Flag Event will not now take
place.
Thanks to the Warriors for giving us an early shout so that we could cancel the
Hotel bookings.
Maybe another time.
BRONCO SENIORS CONTINUE WINNING STREAK IN STIRLING - 28th April 2012
On Saturday, the Bronco Seniors travelled to Stirling University to take on the
Strathclyde Hawks and Stirling Clansmen.
The Broncos won both games and look in good shape to make a challenge for one of the
2012 UK Flag Play-Off positions.
In the other game the Clansmen beat the Hawks 20-13.
BRONCO SENIORS WIN FRIENDLY MINI FLAG EVENT - 21st April 2012
On Saturday, the Bronco Seniors won their two friendly games against the
Edinburgh Outlaws and a selection of players from the Glasgow Hornets.
The Old Town Event gave much needed game experience to the new crop of Broncos and
blew away some of the cobwebs from our more mature players.
GLASGOW AND EDINBURGH COME TO GRANGEMOUTH - 21st April 2012
On Saturday, the Edinburgh Outlaws and a selection of players from the Glasgow Hornets
swarm to the Dalgrain Park in Grangemouth to take on the 2012 Bronco Seniors Squad.
The Old Town Event will be from 10am until 4pm with game order still to be confirmed.
Three friendly games to be played then Jimmy plans to mix up the teams.
First game will kick off at approx 11am.
BRONCOS INVITED TO TROON TOURNAMENT IN MAY
On Saturday, 12th May 2012, the West Coast Trojans are planning to host a Flag Event
in Troon from 10am until 6pm.
This is just to gauge the feeling about going along.
This would not be a BAFANL Event and Jimmy is not sure if the Broncos have any
league games set for this weekend.
Can you let Coach Thomson know if you fancy taking part.
BIRTH OF A FUTURE BRONCO PLAYER
Congratulations to Andrew Hamilton and Dawn on the birth of their son Ross.
All the best to the three of them from the Grangemouth Broncos.
BRONCOS PREPARE FOR 2012 SEASON
Looking at the numbers the Broncos are getting at their practices, Coach Thomson is
really hoping that the Seniors can improve on the last couple of seasons.
Unfortunately that shouldn't be too difficult.
Recently the Broncos have had at least 10 players at practice, plus a few people from
other teams which has made it a lot easier to run the sessions.
The numbers of Seniors turning up each week is going to leave Jimmy with a hard job
when it comes to the 2012 League games.
Coach Thomson always tries to give players as much game time as possible.
That isn't too hard when you have 8 or fewer players on your Roster.
So far this year Jimmy thinks we have 15 Roster Players (or more).
At one point, years ago, the Seniors did have this many players and Coach Thomson was
asked to consider entering two teams. However by the time the league had made up their
mind, the Broncos didn't have enough players.
As it is, with a Summer Season, there are going to be issues with non-availability of
players, so it has to be just one team.
Jimmy would like to encourage all players to keep coming to practices so that there is
competition for places in the Game Day Team.
Also, with a league season running through the Summer Holidays, the Broncos need some
depth to the Senior Squad.
Remember, there are only about 10 league games in the year.
Some of these games will be played on the same day, so there are going to be more than
30 weeks of practice where everyone gets a game.
In addition, if the Seniors do have enough players, Coach Thomson would like to invite
our opponents to play against our Development Team on game days too.
This is a team game and if players are there for the team, we are all contributing to
the team success.
This could be a great season for the Broncos if everyone shows the commitment they
have done so far.
It is not unreasonable to be targeting the Play-Offs this year and once there ...
who knows what will happen.
Last year the Broncos contributed significantly to the National Programme with
five players in the Scotland team (despite our league form), and one player
representing
the Great Britain Lions in the Euro Finals.
There is no reason why the Broncos can't maintain or better those numbers again this
year.
Lots to look forward to in 2012.
2012 Club Costs ... Over the past couple of years the Broncos have managed to get by
with a minimum of cost to players.
This year, we are going to have to ask all players to make a contribution to help with
the Club Costs which are ...
BAFA Registration - £10, New Game Balls (3 x £15) - £45,
Set of new flags (12 pack) - £61, Wrist Coaches (12) - £144,
Spare Club Shirts (3 more) - £105, Spare Club Shorts (3 more) - £45 and
Venue Costs approx - £100.
Total Club Costs £510.
2012 Player Costs for the season are likely to be ...
BAFA Registration - £16, Club Fees - £35,
Personal Shirt (if required) - approx £35 and Personal Shorts (if required)
- approx £15.
Coach Thomson would urge any player who does not own his own strip to consider
buying one.
You get to pick your number and the name that goes on the back.
Total Player Cost ... £51 (without strip) and £101.00 (with strip).
Anyone who has any concerns about paying for the season should speak to Jimmy
in confidence.
Coach Thomson would appreciate it if people could pay their Club Fees asap.
People who want to pay the money over a period can begin to pay as of now.
WHO WANTS A NEW BRONCOS GAME SHIRT ?
Coach Thomson is trying to work out how many people want a game shirt for the
coming season.
Jimmy needs a minimum of 10 shirts for an order.
The price will be in the region of £35 for the shirt and £15 for
the shorts.
If anyone would like to order something, you can advise Coach Thomson through
Facebook using
the Public Event link 'Who wants a Broncos Game Shirt' and ACCEPT the invite.
If you do not want anything use DECLINE.
If you are thinking about it then choose MAYBE.
You can also contact Jimmy Thomson by
E-Mail.
As soon as Jimmy knows he has the numbers, he will deal with sizes, numbers and names.
The shirts do take a while to get delivered, so the quicker we all order the better.
Coach will take orders for supporters too.
GET READY FOR A NEW BAFA REGISTRATION PROCESS !
Early warning on league registration for next year.
It seems there is yet another new registration process / system going to be used.
It will be up to individual players to register themselves online including
paying individually for your registration and indicating what team you'll be playing
for.
This apparently then generates a notification to the TEAM who can then confirm
(again all done online) your membership.
No further details as yet but expect to hear about it soon.
